First Project- Paper Project
My paper sculpture represents me in many ways. I love color, flowers and the way that I tied in the tissue paper to use as my material. The project was about representing who you are while only using paper to create it. I think that I represented who I am in an abstract yet colorful way. When using the tissue paper, it brought me back to when I made my dress last year in the fall out of tissue paper. I liked working with that material to create the dress, I decided to use it again for the flower sculpture. Then started to play with the material until I came upon the product that I liked. The challenging part was to get it to stick together without an adhesive. I got a harder stiff foam core kind of material, and then cut in to a sharp line so that it would go thought the tissue with out breaking. I like the way that it looks and how it all worked out and stayed together. I think that it looks really good up on the wall. After seeing it on the wall I thought of if I put more of them in different ways I could make wallflowers and possibly a little garden on the wall. It was challenging to start and to come up with the idea, but after I found the right materials I just went with it and created my sculpture. Not using adhesives was also challenging, although I think that it was good because it made me think outside of the box. My sculpture is inspired by paper artist Jen Stark. She uses lots of color and dimension in her work. I like my sculpture and I hope you do too!
